The first concert of the series will be on Father's Day, June 18, and will feature a Montgomery favorite from New Orleans - Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots. This band plays a very eclectic variety of roots music-zydeco, blues, Caribbean, and world beat. They will have you pulsing to many rhythms, and seldom does anyone sit through an entire set of this music as you are simply moved to get up and dance! Bruce Barnes, aka Sunpie, is a rare talent, both on and off the musical stage. He has had a career as anNFL linebacker, has appeared in several movies, and is currently a National Park Service ranger at the National Jazz Park in New Orleans. He may play accordion, harmonica, or a variety of primitive drums. Did we forget to mention he is a talented songwriter as well? Check out his latest CD, "Zydeco's Got Soul" which features 14 new songs, all penned by Sunpie! He emanates a feeling of joy in whatever he does. His band follows that example and provides a grest musical experiences for an audience.
