Directions and Parking

Parking is free and plentiful across from the Loeb Reception Center, on the corner of Columbus St. and N. McDonough St. Busses should enter the bus lane in front of the Reception Center (using the right-hand lane), where passengers can safely enter the Reception Center to start their adventure. After unloading passengers, busses should park in the lot across the street. Please DO NOT park on any streets around Old Alabama Town. Cars and vans are not to permitted to use the bus lane or loading area. OLD ALABAMA TOWN AND LANDMARKS FOUNDATION ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OR THEFT OF PRIVATE PROPERTY IN THE OLD ALABAMA TOWN PARKING LOT.

From I‐65 North
Take the Herron St. exit‐‐Exit 172 
Bear right onto Herron St.
Bear left as Herron St. becomes Bibb St.
Bear right as Bibb St. becomes Madison Ave.
Turn left onto N McDonough St.
Turn left into the parking lot adjacent to the Loeb Reception Center on N McDonough St.

From I‐65 South
Take the Clay St. exit‐‐Exit 172‐‐toward Downtown 
Bear left onto Dickerson St.
Turn left onto Herron St.
Bear left as Herron St. becomes Bibb St. Bear right as Bibb St. becomes Madison Ave.
Turn left onto N McDonough St.
Turn left into the parking lot adjacent to the Loeb Reception Center on N McDonough St.

From I‐85 South
Take the Union St. exit‐‐Exit 1 
Bear right onto Union St.
Turn left onto Madison Ave. Turn right onto N McDonough St.
Turn left into the parking lot adjacent to the Loeb Reception Center on N McDonough St.

Did You Know?

On the evening of April 2, 1825, the famous French hero Marquis de Lafayette stopped for food, drink and a night's rest at Lucas Tavern. The historically preserved structure is available for viewing daily at Old Alabama Town.

 

Famous Alabamians

Birmingham native Emmylou Harris is a legendary singer-songwriter. The multi-Grammy Award winner has been named to VH1's list of 100 Most Influential Women in Rock and Roll and CMT's 40 Greatest Women of Country Music. In 2010, she is reorganizing the iconic music festival of the 1990s, Lilith Fair.

This Month in Alabama History

On July 27, 1863, William Lowndes Yancey died at the age of 48. The main author of Alabama's ordinance of secession, which removed Alabama from the Union, he was one of the leading "fire-eaters" who influenced southern states to secede. His former home is on site at Old Alabama Town.
