Loeb Reception Center
The Loeb Reception Center was named for James L. Loeb, one of the founders of Landmarks Foundation, its first president and chair of the board for fifteen years. The Reception Center is located at 301 Columbus Street in Montgomery, Alabama.
Your journey back to the 19th and early 20th centuries starts here. Admission, maps, restrooms and regularly changing exhibits are some of the things you will find here.

Kiwanis Park
Adjacent to the Reception Center is Kiwanis Park. Many events take place here throughout the year including Summer Concerts, Storytelling Festival, Herb Day, Children’s activities and other functions as weather permits. Maintained by the City of Montgomery’s Parks and Recreation, Kiwanis Park is a popular picnic area, as well as a site of fun and exciting programs throughout the year.

 
 Old Alabama Town Museum Shop    

The museum shop, located in the Reception Center, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. Visitors may purchase regional books, pottery, old-fashioned games and toys for children, and a variety of interesting gift items and souvenirs.

The boll weevil, indigenous to Mexico, crossed the Rio Grande River at Brownsville, Texas in 1893. It entered Alabama in 1918 and has become the single greatest enemy of cotton planters.

Old Oakwood Cemetery
A Brief History

The first edition of this book was published in 1988 by the Society of Pioneers of Montgomery, Inc. When the book sold out, the society transferred all rights to Landmarks Foundation of Montgomery, Inc. Landmarks has since revised and enlarged the booklet.
This second edition, complete with additional research, index and a map, sells for $7.50, including shipping & handling.
Oakwood Cemetery, maintained by the City of Montgomery has been the resting place for Montgomery citizens since 1818.
